CV

My name is Ellie Boykin.

A performer and an educator. I have an MFA in Theatre Performance from The University of Southern Mississippi and a 5-year teaching license for grades 6-12 in English, Drama, and Reading from the state of Florida.

Currently I am a Visiting Lecturer of Theatre at my alma mater LaGrange College, in LaGrange, GA.

I claim Fort Walton Beach, FL as home but I am from all over the Southeast. I come from a long line of storytellers. Naturally, I inherited the need to continue telling stories. My professional journey in education and theatre has evolved into a continuation of this legacy.

If you told the 13-year-old version of myself, riddled with ADHD and academic challenges, that she would grow up to pursue education, she would have dramatically rolled her eyes and scoffed in the tradition of middle schoolers. Later, I found the most intrinsic motivation for education when I started studying theatre performance. It is encouraging that amongst the many storytellers in my lineage, there are also educators… The evolving pedagogical skills essential to mentor students today are what transcends my teaching style. My deepest passion comes from effectively mentoring students to find the areas of life that inspire them.

I value cross-disciplinary studies. The confluence of theatrical artistry and academia sets me ablaze. Currently, I am researching a way to make a professional theatrical model that resembles Do-It-Yourself (DIY) alternative music scene models for production. In 2026, I will implement this with a theatrical one-woman show at a music venue in LaGrange, GA.

Drawing on professional theatre work to inform my teaching style, I consider myself an interdisciplinary theatre practitioner and performer. I am a writer, mover, and visual artist inspired by the combination of dramatic theories, collaborative devised work, and the physical demands of acting and movement techniques. I am interested in thought provoking and experimental theatre practices. My artistic, intellectual, and pedagogical pursuits are the through line of my life.
